Samudra Manthan Scheme: Offshore Exploration Push

The Union Cabinet approved the Samudra Manthan Scheme (National Offshore Exploration Scheme) with an outlay of ₹84,084 crore up to FY 2030–31. Formulated under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, it aims to de-risk deepwater and ultra-deepwater hydrocarbon exploration. Financial assistance will cover up to 50% of drilling costs. Outlay heads include ₹43,200 crore for exploratory wells, ₹28,534 crore for seismic data, ₹10,000 crore for infrastructure, and ₹2,000 crore for manufacturing zones, projecting >600 MMTOE reserve accretion.
